Sattva Mart
Cookies Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly, remember your preferences, and give website owners information about how their site is being used.
As well as cookies, this policy covers similar technologies such as tracking pixels, web beacons, scripts, tags, and local storage — any technology that stores or accesses information on your device. In this policy, we refer to all of these collectively as “cookies”.
There are two main types of cookie:
- Session cookies — temporary cookies that are deleted from your device when you close your browser. They are used to keep track of your activity during a single visit, for example keeping items in your shopping basket.
- Persistent cookies — cookies that remain on your device for a set period of time, even after you close your browser. They are used to remember your preferences across multiple visits, for example keeping you logged in.
Cookies can also be first-party (set directly by Sattva Mart) or third-party (set by external providers whose services are embedded on our website, such as Google Analytics or payment processors).
Our legal obligations
Our use of cookies is governed by the following UK legislation:
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) — the primary UK law governing the use of cookies and similar technologies
- UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) — governs how we handle any personal data collected via cookies
- Data Protection Act 2018
- Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA 2025) — introduced new exceptions to cookie consent rules; see below for details
Under PECR, we must obtain your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. You must actively opt in — pre-ticked boxes, implied consent through browsing, or cookie walls that block access to our website do not meet the legal standard.
The DUAA 2025, which received Royal Assent on 19 June 2025, introduced new exceptions to the consent requirement for certain low-risk cookie types. We explain these exceptions in the cookie categories section below.
How we use cookies
We use cookies on sattvamart.com for the following purposes: to operate our WooCommerce store, to remember your preferences, to understand how visitors use our website, and (with your consent) to show you relevant marketing. Each cookie category is explained in detail below.
Category 1: Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for our website and WooCommerce store to function. Without them, you would not be able to add items to your basket, proceed to checkout, or log in to your account. They do not collect any information that could be used to identify you or track your browsing activity for marketing purposes.
Consent required: No. These cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under PECR because they are technically necessary to provide the service you have requested.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| woocommerce_cart_hash | Sattva Mart | Stores a hash of the cart contents to track whether the cart has changed | Session |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | Sattva Mart | Indicates whether you have items in your shopping basket | Session |
| wp_woocommerce_session_* | Sattva Mart | Holds your customer session data, including basket and checkout details | 2 days |
| wordpress_logged_in_* | Sattva Mart | Confirms you are logged in to your account and maintains your session | 2 days / 14 days if “Remember Me” selected |
| wordpress_test_cookie | Sattva Mart | Checks that your browser accepts cookies — contains no personal data | Session |
| wp-settings-* | Sattva Mart | Stores your WordPress interface and display preferences | 1 year |
Category 2: Functional cookies
These cookies allow our website to remember choices you have made and provide enhanced, personalised features. For example, they may remember your preferred currency, saved delivery addresses, or language settings.
Consent required: No (under the DUAA 2025 appearance/functionality exception). These cookies adapt how the site looks or works based on your preferences and do not involve tracking your behaviour for advertising or profiling purposes. We are required to inform you of their use and provide a way to opt out.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| woocommerce_recently_viewed | Sattva Mart | Remembers which products you have recently viewed on our store | Session |
| Comment cookies (comment_author_*) | Sattva Mart | Remembers your name, email, and website if you opt in when leaving a comment or review | 1 year |
Category 3: Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website by collecting information anonymously. This data helps us identify which pages are most popular, where visitors come from, and how we can improve our store’s performance and user experience.
Consent required: No (under the DUAA 2025 statistical exception), provided the data collected is used solely in aggregate form to improve our website and service, is not used for advertising or profiling, and is not shared with third parties except to assist us in improving our service. We are required to clearly inform you of this use and provide a simple, free way to opt out.
If you would prefer that your browsing is not included in our analytics, you can opt out at any time using the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of our website.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Registers a unique ID used to generate statistical data about how you use our website | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Registers a unique ID used to generate statistical data — refreshed daily | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Used to throttle request rate to Google Analytics | 1 minute |
We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, so your full IP address is never stored. Google Analytics data is processed in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you. Google’s privacy policy is available at: policies.google.com/privacy.
Category 4: Marketing and advertising cookies
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites in order to display relevant advertisements. They may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you tailored adverts on other websites and social media platforms.
Consent required: Yes — explicit opt-in required. Advertising and targeting cookies always require your consent under PECR and UK GDPR, regardless of the DUAA 2025 exceptions. We will only set these cookies if you actively accept them via our cookie consent banner. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Used by Facebook to deliver and measure advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram | 3 months |
| fr | Meta (Facebook) | Used to deliver, measure, and improve the relevance of adverts on Facebook | 3 months |
| Google Ads cookies | Used for remarketing and to measure the effectiveness of Google Ads campaigns | Up to 2 years |
If you do not consent to marketing cookies, you will still see adverts when browsing online — they just will not be tailored to your interests based on your activity on our website.

Third-party cookies and embedded content
Some pages on our website may include embedded content from third-party providers — for example, YouTube videos, Google Maps, or social media share buttons. When you interact with this content, those providers may set their own cookies on your device. We have no control over these third-party cookies.
Embedded third-party content behaves as if you had visited those websites directly. Those providers may collect data about you, use their own cookies, and track your interaction with their embedded content — including if you are logged in to their platform. Please review their privacy and cookie policies directly:

Your cookie choices and how to manage them
Cookie consent banner: When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner will appear. You can choose to accept all cookies, accept only certain categories, or decline non-essential cookies. The banner will remember your choice for future visits.
Cookie Settings: You can review and change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the Cookie Settings link in the footer of our website.
Opt out of analytics: You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, delete cookies, or alert you when cookies are being placed. Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent our WooCommerce store from functioning — you will not be able to add items to your basket or complete a purchase. Cookies and personal data
Some cookies we use collect personal data — for example, cookies that store your account login details or your email address. Where cookies process personal data, we handle that data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the UK GDPR.
Cookies that collect personal data are subject to the same rights as any other personal data we hold — including your right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of that data. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details of your rights and how to exercise them.
Changes to this cookie policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, to reflect new cookies we introduce, changes to third-party services, or updates to UK cookie law. The DUAA 2025 cookie provisions are being phased in over 2025–2026 and we will update this policy as new rules take effect.
Significant changes will be notified via our website. The “Last Updated” date at the bottom of this page will always reflect the date of the most recent revision.
